Please Be An Organ Donor

by Melissa

They just patch the 3rd kidney in there.

I have had two kidney transplants. One in 1997 with my mother as the donor and one in 2008 where my fiancé was able to donate. To have someone do a thing like that for you, to save you from having to do daily (in my case) dialysis treatments, to improve your health and life expectancy to such an extent, is overwhelming. If there is anything I can do to give that to someone else, I will do it.

Netflix is now… Qwikster? Wait, what?

by Melissa

What kind of company changes their name without getting the twitter name first?

So, this isn’t really a beauty related post but I found the whole thing so funny I’m posting about it anyway. Today I got an email from the CEO of Netflix that was part apology and part LOLFEST.

Lights Out! Or, I survived the Blackout of 2011.

by Melissa

The crazed masses at Albertson's

I am sure you have heard about it by now, but there was a big power outage yesterday affecting something like 5 million people. All of San Diego county went out at about 3:40pm on one of the hottest days of the year. I waited a bit, thinking it would come right back on. When it didn’t, I checked the news on my phone to find out that the outage went from parts of Orange County all the way down to Mexico and into Arizona. Whoa.

New: Stila Naturaleyes Palette

by Melissa

Another palette YOU NEED RIGHT NOW.

Stila has just introduced a neutral eyeshadow palette with 10 shadows and a smudge stick eyeliner in Damsel, a matte chocolate brown, and an 6-page look book with detailed how-to tips and tricks. The eyeliner is full sized, so that gives you a rough idea on the size of this palette. Do you need another neutral palette?

Review: NYX Nude on Nude palette

by Melissa

Is it a dupe for Urban Decay's Naked palette?

When this Nude on Nude palette showed up on the NYX website I purchased it immediately. The price was right ($25, and it has gone on sale on Ulta’s website in the past) and it appeared to be a good dupe of the elusive Urban Decay Naked palette. So, is it?

I’m Moving!

by Melissa

Please don't break. Please don't break. Please don't break...

I’m packing up the perfumes. Back into their original boxes they go with lots of hoping and praying that there isn’t an accident. I’m moving into a new (new to me, built in 1959) house this week. I am really excited but, damn, I hate packing.

New: Urban Decay Urban Bride set

by Melissa

Urban Decay Urban Bride

Urban Decay just sent me some information about their new Urban Bride set. It includes a bunch of useful products in a cute purple and white box. I think it would make a great gift for a bride-to-be or a bridesmaid.

Buying Glasses Online

by Melissa

Which frame was $270 and which one was free?

I’m nearly blind. Okay, so not quite. But my eyesight is pretty bad. I’ve worn glasses since the 2nd grade when my teacher noticed I was holding my book directly up to my nose. But I like wearing glasses. I just hate paying so much money for them.

Review: Covergirl NatureLuxe

by Melissa

Drugstore foundation has greatly improved...

Lately drugstore makeup has been improving overall. If you check the ratings on MakeupAlley, you’ll find that there are some decent foundation offerings at the drugstore. Revlon PhotoReady or ColorStay, Maybelline FitMe, Boots No7, and now the new Covergirl NatureLuxe foundation.
